About Me

If you are reading this, you may be curious about whether or not I know what I’m doing. Do I know enough to help you? Am I good at what I do? I want to use this page to answer some questions and to give you a glimpse into the journey that got me to this point. I hope this info helps you decide if we will work well together.

Since I was a little girl, I have always wanted to help people. I know that sounds super cliché, but the truth is that I have been cultivating this part of myself since I was old enough to attend the volunteer events that my church hosted. This passion has landed me in the mental health field several times during my long journey towards psychotherapy.

My first high school job was at King’s Gate Christian school. I did a lot of work with special needs kids, especially autistic children, like adjusting routines and coming up with appropriate activities for them. I also worked at Shiloh Summer Camp, spending time with disadvantaged kiddos from all over the city. We used horseback riding and horse care to help these children learn life skills and important values that would help them out as they grew up.

While I was in college, I was given the opportunity to work in a counseling center, called Life Counseling Center, as a clerical secretary. I wasn’t providing therapy for the people I served, but I felt so honored to be able to make the whole process easier for anyone that I met at that facility.

In high school I was involved in a club called Key club, which had a mission to serve all children everywhere. During my time in that club, I helped out a lot with acts of service in my immediate community.

Once I got to college, I was involved in a student led group called the Well. This group had a big focus on mental health and promoting well-being. I also became a big sister with Big Brother Big Sister of Oklahoma around this time. I spent several years mentoring a kiddo in elementary school, and it was really fun getting to watch her grow.

About halfway through college, I decided to get into my own therapy, and it changed me forever. After taking some time to think about my future, I decided that this is what I wanted to do with my life. I started taking psychology classes and soon after applied to a graduate school for counseling. I loved every minute of my time in those classes, and I have never ever looked back.

After I graduated college in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, I went to work for NorthCare. I was on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to help manage crises and give supportive counseling to families. I spent time teaching these families parenting skills, financial management, house management, problem solving, preventative health, preventative mental health, personal safety, and appropriate discipline to help make each family stronger.

At the end of 2015, I received my Master of Arts in Marital and Family Therapy from Southern Nazarene University. From there I decided to transition right into psychotherapy. I was ready. Stonebridge Family Services offered me an office, and now I see couples and families here in Yukon.
